Medusa
is one of the most mysterious figures from Greek mythology. She was one of the three Gorgon sisters with snake hair, a terrifying visage, and a gaze that could turn anyone who looked into her eyes to stone. Perseus, a hero in Greek mythology, was tasked with slaying Medusa. Using a mirrored shield to avoid direct eye contact, he beheaded her, and from her severed neck emerged the winged horse Pegasus and the giant Chrysaor. Medusa's myth has left a lasting impact on art, literature, and popular culture, symbolizing both female monstrosity and the supernatural in ancient Greek storytelling.
