Just a short domestic flight from Brisbane up north, lies Australia's tropic heaven. The 74 Whitsunday Islands lie between the northeast coast of Queensland, Australia, and the Great Barrier Reef, a massive stretch of coral teeming with marine life. Most of the islands are uninhabited. They're characterized by dense rainforest, hiking trails and white sand beaches. The town of Airlie Beach on the mainland is the region's central hub.

I was lucky enough to book 3 nights on a pirate ship in the middle of the ocean. At the backpackers travel agencies, in Sydney, you  get the option of deciding which boat you would like to stay on during each adventure around these beautiful islands. I decided to go for the wildest. I found wonderful new friends from the UK and New York City along the way, which I'm very grateful to still be in touch with over social media.

In-between adventures such as snorkeling or sliding down 2 different slides attached to the boat (find the videos below), you also get to go on land. Little adventure hicks to hidden beaches and viewing points over the pure white sand mixed with turquoise ocean water.

Bliss!
